Five themes for Maastricht Citizens' Budget chosen
The 300,000 euros from the Maastricht Citizen's Budget should be invested in: new meeting places and/or activities in buildings or public space (1), connecting activities (fighting loneliness) (2), everyone participates/boosting participation (3), vacancy and empty sites (4) and greening of parks and streets (5) are chosen.
Favourite themes
Which five themes are the most important for Maastricht and my neighbourhood? You discussed this question in large numbers, with no fewer than 150 residents. During four events, organised at different locations in the city, the conversation was held together.
Vivianne Heijnen, alderman for civic participation, was present at all events as an observer: “
This start tastes like more. The turnout is high and residents really come together to make choices. This results in interesting conversations and encounters, which can lead to new connections in neighbourhoods and districts. The confidence that residents can make a direct difference in their living environment with the citizens' budget must continue to grow. I hope that the next rounds will yield more great results and that Maastricht citizens will come forward en masse with projects and ideas.”
Round 2: distributing money
During round 2, you are welcome to join us in dividing the money between the five chosen themes. This will again take place during physical events:
- Saturday 20 November, 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Trefcentrum Wittevrouwenveld, Edisonstraat 4. - Wednesday 24 November, 6.30 p.m. – 9.30 p.m.
Brandweerkantine, Capucijnenstraat 21.
Projects and votes
In round 3 (December 2021 and January 2022), you can then submit ideas and concrete projects that fit the theme and the budget allocated to it. Round 4 is the voting round. The projects that are chosen will be decided together.
