How do I vote for my favourite projects?

We received many great ideas to make Maastricht even better for Burgerbegroting Maastricht (Maastricht Citizens' Budget) in 2024. Now it’s time for all residents of Maastricht to vote. You can vote online from Monday 20 January 09.00 to Sunday 26 January 2025 23.59, or vote in person at the final event on Saturday 1 February 2025.

Your voice counts

By voting, you help decide which projects will be carried out. You can vote for projects within 3 themes: (1) arts, culture and community associations, (2) greening the neighbourhood, and (3) sport and physical activity. You can choose 1 project per theme, making 3 votes in total. Would you like to see a greener Maastricht, more cultural activities in your neighbourhood, or more ways to stay active in your area? It’s all possible!

Vote online

You can vote online for up to 3 projects (1 per theme) from Monday 20 January 09.00 to Sunday 26 January 2025 23.59. Voting online is easy—all you need is your email address.

A button linking to the voting form will be available here from 20 January.

You’ll find all the projects along with their requested budgets In the form. You can also view them with photos on the project page, where you can filter by year (2024) and theme.

Vote during the final event

You’re warmly invited to vote in person at the final event, held at the Stadsbeheer facility of the municipality of Maastricht.

  • Date: Saturday, 1 February 2025
  • Time: 09.30 to 12.30
  • Address: Ankerkade 275, Limmel, Maastricht

At the event, you’ll learn more about the projects and receive 3 ballot papers (1 per theme). You’ll also get a chance to explore Stadsbeheer. Complimentary coffee, tea and snacks will be available.

More information about the projects can be found on the project page, where you can filter by year (2024) and theme.

  • We recommend walking, cycling, or use public transport to get to the closing event. Take bus line 9 to the Balijeweg/Ankerkade stop, or lines 30 or 10 to Willem Alexanderweg, just a 5-minute walk away. If you are driving, please follow the diversion signs for parking arrangements.

A professional photographer will be present during the event. The municipality will use the photos in future communications for Burgerbegroting Maastricht (Maastricht Citizens' Budget).

On 1 February, project representatives and organisations will also share tips on making the city greener, and more active, social and creative. Organisations such as Mijn Groen Maastricht, Cultuurmakers Maastricht, Sociale kaart Maastricht, Maastricht Sport and Maastricht area managers will be present. Stadsbeheer staff will also be available to answer questions about their work keeping Maastricht clean, green and safe.

  • The final event takes place at Stadsbeheer, a municipal department responsible for maintenance of facilities and structures in the public open space such as streets, green spaces and the sewage system. They also manage waste collection and gritting during icy weather. During carnaval, they ensure the city is spotless every morning.

During the final event, you'll get the opportunity to visit the Stadsbeheer workshop and garage, see the waste collection vehicles and view the stockpile of gritting salt. Staff will be happy to tell you more about their work.

How are the final scores calculated?

Online votes count for 40% of the final scores, while votes at the final event account for 60%. This reflects the importance of in-person engagement and discussion. More information about the process is available on our page about scoring.
